I’m coming up on my 3 month meat-iversary and I’ve gained about 10lbs since my low of 175 in late January 2021. Historically (before my digestive system went on strike) I weighed about 195, so it’s a big deal for me to be able to put on some weight again. Body fat is down, muscle size is noticeably increasing.
Right now my general diet is this:
90+% animal products, emphasis on beef and lamb, but also including pork and seafood. Trying to get the fattiest cuts, but this isn’t always easy when eating pastured meat. Organs are also on the menu, but so far this has been limited to liver and heart. Limited dairy, usually hard cheese and butter.
6 hour eating window, usually from 10am to 4pm, but I haven’t been very strict with this. I have however felt that restricting my eating like this has been beneficial. I just remind myself that being in a fasted state is when I feel my best and is when my belly gets some healing time.
I’m still drinking coffee, but trying not to have it every day. Other plant foods include some occasional nibbles of avocado, sweet potato, sauerkraut, coconut yogurt, macadamia nuts, and some honey. Yes, some would consider honey to be an animal product, but whatever. This category makes up only a small proportion of my overall calories.
In general, energy is up and consistent, mood is better, anxiety is down. No plans to go back to plants in any significant way, and I’m ok with that.
Feels good to feel good again.
