I want to generate new ideas and share them. To be good at this, I need to be able to think, read, learn, and understand. Writing is the glue, the fiber optic cables, the hard drive. Taking smart notes makes everything possible, easy, and fun. I don’t want to try and hold everything is my head anymore. Not only is it ineffective, but it’s making it hard to rest my mind. It’s time to stop spinning my wheels and get some traction.
Things I am working on:
Reading speed and comprehension. I’m too slow and easily distracted. I want to take in new information with speed, accuracy, and focus. I will use Tim Ferriss’ reading method to train my eyes to move more efficiently over the page. Daily practice, approximately 5 minutes.
Typing speed. I need to be able to quickly and easily put my thoughts on the page, minimizing cursor use. I want to type at the speed of thought (or at least faster than my current, glacial pace). Keybr is a simple typing practice site. 5 minute sessions, combined with reading practice.
Note-taking. I’m reading How to Take Smart Notes by Sönke Ahrens and it will change my life. I can see already how wasteful and ineffective my reading and thinking has been my whole life. At least I’m getting started now and not any later.
Deadlifts. I want to be strong like bull.
